This new Abarth 205 concept is the real 'blood relative' of the original, 1950 Abarth 205 Vignale Berlinetta. The connection obetween the predecessor and this concept is very strong: the proportions of the new concept are very near to the original supercar and the main styling features are as well very typical.

The front of the car is has the same friendly look as the grille and the position of the headlights are similar. The same applies to the side of the car where the defining longitudinal step on the sidepanels is following the original version's styling. The bigger difference is at the back where bigger taillights are used and where the registration plate has a better defined submerged place.

However this new concept has a more comprehensive design since there is one very strong motiv which defines every look of the car. This is a dividing edge which starts off from a circle, goes around the edge of the circle approximately 180° and the continues in a horizontal line and then connects to another circle and goes around its edge for 180° again.

This motiv is the basic shape of the front with the step in the front surface starting around the headlights and running along the edge of the bonnet, just as this is the motiv of the side where the two wheels and the longitudinal horizontal step forms this shape and on the back where the taillights and the edge running across between them forms the same shape.

The other big difference is the cabin area which has full glass top on the new version for a lighter interior. The sideview of the cabin is similar, the defining backwards tilting of the B pillar is similar to the original version just as the outline of the sidewindow and the rear windscreen.

Following the original idea Abarth 205 is powered by a small engine. In this case it is a 2.4 litre four cylinder in-line petrol engine which provides 240 HP with a switchable turbo charger. The three holes on each side of the car are the exhausts of this car.

It has rear wheel drive with limited slip differential for better performance.

All in all Abarth 205 concept follows the idea of the original legend: the styling is a modern version of the original beautiful car with clear, simple design. The powertrain is built to the same conceptas well: a small but powerful engine to power a lightweight supercar.
